- Early Career: Asim Munir embarked on his military journey in 1986 after graduating from the 17th course of the Officers Training School in Mangla. He was commissioned into the esteemed 23rd Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment, marking the beginning of his dedicated service to the nation.
- Commander in Northern Areas: Munir demonstrated leadership as the commander of troops deployed in the Northern Areas of Pakistan from October 2014 to December 2016. His tenure in this region showcased his strategic acumen and commitment to national security.
- Director General of Military Intelligence: Munir’s capabilities were further recognized as he assumed the role of Director General of Military Intelligence from December 2016 to October 2018. In this position, he played a pivotal role in gathering crucial intelligence for the defense forces.
- Rise to Lieutenant General: Munir’s exemplary service led to his promotion to the prestigious rank of Lieutenant General in September 2018. Shortly after, he was appointed as the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on 25 October 2018, a position of immense responsibility and significance in Pakistan’s military landscape.
